Appointment Types

City Physio & Pilates offers a range of physiotherapy appointment types in the Sydney CBD, allowing us to match you with the most suitable and experienced physiotherapist for your specific condition, goals, and treatment needs.

Physio Matt treating a foot in a treatment room

Initial Consultation (30 minutes)

An Initial Consultation is your first appointment in a course of Physiotherapy treatment at City Physio & Pilates. It includes a comprehensive assessment, covering your medical history, current symptoms, goals, and any relevant scans, tests, or input from other healthcare providers.

Your physiotherapist will perform objective physical testing, develop a personalised treatment plan, and begin hands-on physiotherapy to relieve pain, restore movement, and accelerate recovery. You’ll also receive a clear plan for ongoing treatment and injury prevention.

This appointment type is best suited to assessment and treatment of one body area/ injury, including orthopedic injuries, post surgical rehab, neck and low back pain, injuries to the elbow, wrist, knee, foot or hips. If you have more than one area of pain or have a particularly complex presentation we may advise you to book an Extended or Double appointment type.

The appointment type is not for the treatment of headaches, dizziness or jaw pain- you can find a specific appointment type for these areas with an advanced scope practitioner.

Subsequent Consultation (30 minutes)

A Subsequent Consultation follows your Initial Consultation at City Physio & Pilates. It includes hands-on physiotherapy, tailored rehabilitation exercises, and objective reassessment to track your progress and ensure you’re moving toward your recovery and performance goals.

Extended Musculoskeletal Consultation (45 minutes)

An Extended Musculoskeletal Consultation at City Physio & Pilates is a longer appointment designed for complex or multi-area injuries. It includes everything from an Initial or Subsequent Consultation, with extra time for your physiotherapist to thoroughly assess interconnected issues, multiple pain areas, or extensive histories.

This appointment is ideal if you have multiple areas of pain, a complex condition, or are seeking a second opinion for a detailed, comprehensive assessment.

Patients who have not attended the clinic for more than three months may be booked into an Initial Consultation, as this is often considered a new episode of care.

Double Consultation (60 minutes)

A Double Consultation at City Physio & Pilates is our longest appointment, designed for complex cases or multiple areas of pain. It includes all aspects of an Initial or Subsequent Consultation, with extra time for your physiotherapist to thoroughly assess, understand, and plan treatment for more intricate or interconnected conditions.

This appointment can be booked as either your initial or follow-up consultation when additional time is needed to ensure a comprehensive, personalised assessment and treatment plan.

TMJ Physiotherapy (45 minutes)

TMJ Physiotherapy at City Physio & Pilates is a specialist appointment for the assessment and treatment of jaw, facial, or oral pain conditions. This includes TMJ dysfunction, jaw clicking or clunking, facial pain, neuralgias, or locking of the jaw. This appointment can be booked for both initial or subsequent presentations and is only available with Physiotherapists with extended scope training.

This appointment is slightly longer to allow for the complex assessment and treatment required for the face and jaw, including a full medical history, assessment of biomechanics, contributing factors, and any other practitioners involved. In some cases, an intraoral examination and facial dry needling may also be performed.

Not all physiotherapists are trained in this area; this appointment is exclusively available with our extended scope practitioners, who have advanced training in TMJ and facial pain management. The jaw is a highly sensitive area, and our approach is thorough, precise, and highly specialised to ensure the best outcomes. The pricing for these appointments is tiered by experience

Dizziness & Vertigo Physiotherapy (45 minutes)

This appointment is only available with our extended scope practitioners, who provide a thorough, tailored assessment of your symptoms and contributing factors. It includes all elements of an initial or subsequent consultation, adapted specifically to effectively manage dizziness and vertigo.
