Introducing Ed!

City Physio & Pilates | Meet the Team | Martin Place, Sydney CBD

Meet Ed Germanos; City Physio’s Guru in Dizziness, Vertigo and Clinical Pilates

We don’t hire often. When we do, it’s because we’ve found someone whose clinical skillset genuinely adds something new to what we already do. Ed Germanos is exactly that.

Ed joins City Physio & Pilates after Easter, and if you’ve been sitting on a dizziness referral, a tricky cervicogenic headache, or you’ve been waiting to start Clinical Pilates… he’s the person you’ve been waiting for.

A clinical background that covers a lot of ground

Ed trained in Lebanon before completing comprehensive postgraduate training in Australia, which gives him a clinical perspective that’s genuinely broad. He’s worked across musculoskeletal physiotherapy, sports injury management, headache and cervical spine presentations, vestibular rehabilitation, TMJ dysfunction, and Clinical Pilates. That’s not a list of things he’s dabbled in, it’s a cohesive skill set that reflects the reality that most interesting patients don’t present with just one thing.

In our experience, the physios who are best at dizziness are also the best at cervical spine work. The two are inseparable.

Dizziness, vertigo and BPPV; his wheelhouse

If you’ve been told you have BPPV, vestibular neuritis, or “inner ear issues,” or if your GP has referred you on for dizziness management and you’re not sure where to start, Ed is your person.

Vestibular rehabilitation is a specialty within physiotherapy that not many clinicians pursue with genuine depth. It requires a high tolerance for diagnostic complexity, a methodical assessment approach, and the ability to sit with a patient who is genuinely distressed by their symptoms and work through a clear management plan. Ed does this well.

He’s equally comfortable with cervicogenic dizziness; the kind that originates from the neck rather than the inner ear, which is frequently misidentified and poorly managed when the distinction isn’t made carefully. If your dizziness comes with neck pain or stiffness, headaches, or worsens with certain head positions or sustained postures, this is the presentation Ed will assess thoroughly.

Cervicogenic headaches and TMJ

Ed’s interest in cervicogenic headaches and jaw dysfunction complements the work already being done at City Physio. Nicola has long been the clinic’s go-to for complex facial pain, TMJ, and chronic headache presentations. Matt has been the fallback for patients who are a little less jaw-complex. With Ed’s arrival means we now have three clinicians with genuine depth in this space, which means shorter wait times and more booking flexibility for patients managing these often frustrating and persistent conditions.

Ed has completed training in the Watson’s Headache Approach, McKenzie, Mulligan and Muscle Energy Approaches. Additionally he is certified in Dry Needling!

Clinical Pilates

Ed is comprehensively trained in Clinical Pilates and will be running both individual and small group sessions from our Martin Place studio. If you’ve finished your physiotherapy rehabilitation and want to transition into a movement program with clinical oversight, or if you’ve been recommended Clinical Pilates as part of your management (the gold standard!), Ed bridges that gap between treatment and performance.
